Through direct observation, teacher and caregiver reports, and one-on-one testing, the well-respected criterion-referenced FCP-R allows you to assess communication skills in individuals with developmental and acquired delays across a wide age range.

- Appropriate for individuals with mild to profound deficits and those for whom oral language expression is not a possibility. Designed to provide information for instruction, not to compare students with one another.
- Uses age-appropriate stimulus materials familiar to the individual being evaluated, such as colored blocks, eating utensils, and noisemakers.
- Provides an overall inventory of an individual's communication abilities, mode of communication (e.g., verbal, sign, nonverbal), and degree of independence.
- Contains 10 subtests: Sensory/Motor, Attentiveness, Receptive Language, Expressive Language, Pragmatic/Social Language, Speech, Voice, Oral, Fluency, and Non-Oral Communication. Definitions for all test items given in detailed yet lay terms for easy report writing and communication.
- Individual responses subjectively rated based on responses to test items; based on assessment results, general guidelines are given for estimating severity level.
