Reynolds Child Depression Scale™–2nd Edition
Easily assess depressive symptomatology in children ages 7 through 13 with the RCDS-2. The RCDS-2 is a brief self-report measure designed to assess the severity of symptomatology associated with depression in children and is not designed to provide a specific diagnosis of depressive disorder. The 30 items of the RCDS-2 were written to be easily understood by children, and measure a range of depressive symptomatology including cognitive, vegetative, somatic, and social-interpersonal symptoms. Need a shorter assessment? The RCDS-2:SF offers a rapid assessment of childhood depressive symptomatology. Both the RCDS-2 and RCDS-2:SF can provide an empirically derived cutoff score which allows for the screening of children who may be at risk for more serious diagnostic forms of depression.
Where to Use the RCDS
The RCDS-2 and RCDS-2:SF can:
- Assess levels of depressive symptomatology in individual children
- Be used as screening measures to identify depressive symptomatology in children in school-based and clinical populations
- Be useful for research on depression and related constructs
- Evaluate treatment outcome
