NAB Daily Living gathers the daily living tasks from each NAB module and combines them in one form for ease of use.

Features and benefits

  • Each of the tasks involves real-world scenarios that are generalizable, targeted, and ecologically valid to demonstrate daily living skills in everyday situations.
  • Ideal when making high-stakes decisions relating to an individual's ability and capacity to live alone or make decisions about their care.

Test structure

  • The Driving Scenes test taps into an examinee's visual working memory, attention to detail, and selective attention skills.
  • The Bill Payment Daily Living test taps into auditory language, reading comprehension, speech output, and writing ability.
  • The Daily Living Memory test involves explicit learning, delayed recall, and recognition recall of information likely encountered in daily living.
  • The Map Reading Daily Living test involves orientation, visuospatial skill, and spatial/directional skills.
  • The Judgment Daily Living test features medical issues and situations likely to be encountered in daily living.

Technical information

  • Scores on the various tests are derived from the large standardization sample used to norm the NAB.
  • Each task provides its own score.
  • All administration instructions are provided on the Record Form.

Note: The NAB Administration, Scoring, and Interpretation Manual (Item #5088-TM) and the NAB norms manuals (either U.S. Census-Matched or Demographically Corrected Norms) are necessary for scoring and interpretation of the NAB DL.
