Screener for Depression in Children in 3 Minutes

Designed to screen for depression in children, the RCDS-2:SF includes 11 of the most critical RCDS-2 items and takes just 2-3 minutes to administer. Children are asked to answer questions about how they have been feeling during the past 2 weeks. All items are worded in the present tense to elicit current symptoms status.

Features and benefits

  • Appropriate for children ages 7-13 years.
  • A new standardization sample of students drawn from 11 states is stratified to match U.S. Census statistics for gender and ethnic background.
  • Maps onto the symptoms of depressive disorders outlined in the DSM-IV.
  • All items are presented in a 4- or 5-point rating scale format, making them easy for children to answer.
  • Administration and scoring are available on PARiConnect, our online assessment platform.
  • The RCDS-2:SF Test Form is available in Spanish. View the Creation and Use of the RADS-2 and the RCDS-2:SF Spanish Translations white paper.
